BCS Predictions: 2010 Colorado State Rams

Steve Fairchild enters his third season at Colorado State with the hopes of proving that his initial 2008 season that produced a 7-6 straight up record and a New Mexico Bowl win was what is to be expected for the future rather than the 3-9 debacle in college football picks of last year. Colorado State has opened as a +750 play the field longshot at online sportsbooks in 2011 BCS odds but their main hope is to get back into bowl contention and finish with a winning record in the Mountain West Conference. Last year the Rams were winless in college football betting odds for conference play and were battered with injuries.

The Rams only have 4 starters back on offense and will likely be starting a freshman quarterback. The defense does return 8 starters but allowed 30 points per game last year and will have to improve significantly for the Rams to get back to .500 or better. Colorado State has been a terrible betting value in college football odds with just one winning season against the spread in the past 8 years. The Rams were just 3-8 against the board last year and have gotten the cash in college football picks for just 1 out of their last 7 games as a road underdog.

Although Colorado State covered as a home underdog against Utah they failed to get the money in college football picks as road underdogs against BYU or TCU showing that they are not at all up to par with the best teams in the league. A 24-23 win over 1-AA Weber State in week 2 last year was the first sign of alarm that things were off track. On the positive, the Rams will open their season in Denver against a Colorado team that they upset last year and they catch BYU and TCU at home.
