Team Effort: The Key to Success
The recent soccer world cup was fabulous and fantastic. Each team played their best and was delight to watch and enjoy. All the teams had some great players but ultimately it was proved that football is a team game, and even individual brilliance requires team support and team work. There are some management lessons from this soccer world cup which is as follows:
- Initial setbacks can become the cornerstone for future success, provided if you are willing to learn from setbacks.
- As in soccer even in business, strategy and its proper execution are necessary for success.
- Each for all and all for each may be the slogan of cooperative form of organization but is equally applicable to both soccer and business. The players may have specialized roles but they need to be versatile enough to play from any position. Executives and employees may have assigned roles and responsibilities but they need to be versatile enough to cope with the new and varied roles.
- The strength of team and team work is greater than the individual isolated effort.
- The pool of talented human resources is better than few star employees.
- Each and every employee must have the attitude of making themselves count when it matters, it is better to depend on entire team rather than few individual executives and employees.
- Teamwork based on mutual trust and confidence results in better coordination, higher efficiency and effectiveness. Wastages are minimized.
- The persistent effort does pay results if not in short term than surely in long term.
- When you play or work as a team than the harmony is worth watching and enjoying. The entire process of play or work does not remain a job but becomes enjoyable experience.
- There are certain vital or crucial moments, if you keep strong nerves and win those moments then you win matches, championships or success in business.
- There is nothing greater than self belief and pride which you take in your work and organization.
- Lastly team work requires you to be unselfish and a team player.
- The success of any group effort mostly is the result of team work and credit for it must go to all team members.
- The role of mentor and leader is vital in molding, guiding and motivating team to success.
- Fortune favors the brave rightly sums up the spirit and work required to get success.
